The Development

Sandymount is a multi-phase residential community planned for North-West St. Thomas, Ontario, developed by Lecram Inc. The project is designed to support long-term growth through thoughtful planning, coordinated infrastructure, and a balanced mix of housing types.

The development is located just south of Major Line and east of Sunset Drive, on the tablelands atop Sandymount Hill. From this elevated setting, the community overlooks the wooded slopes of the Kettle Creek valley, with Dodd Creek winding along the base of the tableland. Surrounding forests and woodlands define the site’s natural context and shape the overall layout of the community.

Planning Approach

The approved development plan for Sandymount by Lecram Inc. encompasses approximately 42.12 hectares, with 20.39 hectares designated for residential use. The plan provides for a mix of housing and community infrastructure, including 249 lots for single detached dwellings, 13 townhouse lots accommodating a total of 64 townhouse units, and 2 blocks designated for higher-density residential development.

Additional lands are allocated for streets, stormwater management facilities, parkland, trails, walkways, and open space valley lands, with further blocks reserved to support future phases of development. The subdivision is planned to proceed through three phases of registration, with a fourth phase currently in design.

At the heart of Lecram Inc. is the belief that successful development goes beyond housing alone — it is about creating places where people feel connected, supported, and proud to live. The name Sandymount is inspired by the historic seaside community of the same name in Ireland, reflecting a personal connection to Irish heritage within the Lecram Inc. family and the owner of the very first home built along this stretch of land. This heritage influenced not only the name of the community, but also elements of its identity and design.

The maple leaf that you see throughout the website represents our Canadian roots, while the use of green throughout the Sandymount St. Thomas by Lecram Inc brand reflects both this Irish connection and the community’s strong relationship with nature, open space, and the surrounding landscape. That influence extends into the neighbourhood itself, where many street names — including Blarney Place, Galway Crescent, Pipers Place, and others — draw directly from Irish geography and tradition.

These details were chosen intentionally to add meaning, character, and a sense of place to the Sandymount community.
